Looking at this front yard, you would never guess the client received a substantial xeriscape rebate from the City of Albuquerque Water Authority for removing over 2,000 square feet of lawn. The rebate was applied to their subsequent water bills.

To start the process the overgrown juniper shrubs and lawn on the lower part of the sloped yard were removed and classic mossrock retaining walls installed to create the two “level” areas in front of the house thus preventing further run-off of irrigation water onto the street that had resulted in fines in the past. A new colored concrete walk and steps leads to the front entrance. New plantings fulfilled the requirements of the xeric rebate plan and add to the character of the new look.
